Dr. Aamir Nawaz
Managing Director
0333 3446 217
Aamir is the founder of Trent Aviation and brings a unique blend of commercial expertise and aviation passion to the role. A qualified corporate and commercial lawyer with over 20 years of experience, he’s also a licensed pilot in both aeroplanes and helicopters. Aamir began flying as a teenager and holds EASA PPLs in both categories. He’s rated on the Robinson R22 and R44, with additional experience flying the Cabri G2, R66, and a range of single piston aircraft.
In 2025, Aamir acquired Gamston Flight Training (GFT), driven by a vision to create a high-quality, modern training environment rooted in professionalism, precision, and passion for flying.
His favourite aircraft reflect different aspects of his flying style and personality: the Robinson R66 for its balance of power and practicality; the Piper Super Cub for its simplicity and soul; and the Piper Saratoga, a fast, reliable workhorse with a touch of class — perfect for when business and adventure meet.
Outside of aviation, Aamir holds a black belt in martial arts and enjoys motorcycling, clay pigeon shooting, and target practice. Whether in the air or on the ground, he brings focus, discipline, and a commitment to doing things properly — with just the right amount of edge.

Richard Flanagan
Head of Training & Chief Flying Instructor
0333 3446 217
Richard brings over five decades of flying experience to Trent Aviation, where he leads as Head of Training and Chief Flying Instructor. His aviation journey began on 14th May 1975 at the Frank Spencer Flying School in Tollerton — the first step in what would become a rich and dynamic career in aviation.
By the 1990s, Richard had become a qualified flying instructor and examiner, steadily building his expertise across both single and multi-crew operations. He went on to achieve commercial instructor and examiner status, maintaining those qualifications to this day — notably on the King Air. His vast career has taken him through the world of public transport aviation, commercial instruction, and corporate flying, offering a depth of practical knowledge that few can match.
Though officially retired from public transport duties, Richard remains actively involved in corporate aviation, frequently flying missions across Europe. His main focus now lies in mentoring and testing private pilots, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Flying School. Whether training new aviators or conducting flight tests, he’s at the heart of the school’s reputation for high standards and warm professionalism.
Richard has flown a wide range of aircraft throughout his career, but when the sun is shining and the skies are calm, nothing quite beats the charm of the Tiger Moth — his favourite aircraft for its nostalgic beauty and timeless handling.
With a career rooted in experience, dedication, and genuine love for flying, Richard is a cornerstone of the Trent Aviation team.

Trevor Lawrence
Flying Instructor
0333 3446 217
With over two decades in the cockpit, Trevor brings a wealth of flying experience and a serious passion for aviation. Currently flying the Airbus A330 with Aer Lingus UK out of Manchester, his career has spanned roles as Captain for Jet2 and Thomas Cook Airlines, as well as extensive time in flight training.
Trevor began his journey at Sheffield Aero Club, rising to Chief Flying Instructor before moving on to train future pilots for major carriers including easyJet, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Qatar Airways. He holds instructional privileges up to Multi-Engine Instrument Rating, including Advanced UPRT and Aerobatics, and also serves as an examiner for both Class and Instrument Ratings.
Outside of commercial aviation, Trevor is a true enthusiast of vintage aircraft. He has flown and taught on DeHavilland Tiger Moths and Boeing Stearmans, and now flies Spitfires for spitfires.com across the UK. His favourite aircraft? The Piper Super Cub—simple, rugged, and perfect for going off the beaten track. But the most emotional flight of his life was taking a Spitfire solo out of Biggin Hill: “It’s the only aircraft to make me cry—more than once.”
Before aviation, Trevor trained as a pastry chef and even worked under Gordon Ramsay. He’s still a serious foodie, and fuels his days with home-roasted coffee—often gifted to lucky friends.

David Hagon
Flight Instructor, Examiner & FRTOL Examiner
0333 3446 217
David brings nearly 50 years of aviation experience to Trent Aviation, having recently returned to the instructional environment after a long and fulfilling career in the airline industry. With many thousands of hours in the seat, David's passion for flying remains as strong today as it was when he first took to the skies.
He began his flying career at Biggin Hill — a journey that came full circle when he later returned there as an instructor. Over the years, David has taught at several prestigious flying schools, including those at Goodwood, Bournemouth, and Cranfield, delivering ground and flight instruction to cadets destined for careers with major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, Air France, and Icelandair.
As both a ground instructor and examiner, David also holds qualifications as a FRTOL (Flight Radiotelephony Operator Licence) examiner, bringing both depth and versatility to his teaching. He’s particularly proud of the students he’s helped along the way — many of whom have gone on to successful commercial flying careers. For David, the greatest reward is the feedback and appreciation he receives from those he’s taught, knowing he’s played a part in shaping their aviation journey.
David’s calm presence, encyclopaedic knowledge, and love for instruction make him a valued mentor within the Trent Aviation team. And in his own words, he'll continue guiding new pilots "until my gyros eventually topple."

Steve Price
Flying Instructor
0333 3446 217
Steve’s aviation journey took off in the world of helicopters, where he first earned his wings (or rotors) and cultivated a deep appreciation for precision, control, and spatial awareness. Eager to expand his horizons, he later transitioned into fixed-wing flying, earning his aeroplane certification and becoming a skilled, dual-qualified pilot.
Today, Steve is a seasoned flight instructor with a particular passion for aerobatics. He thrives on guiding students through their first loops, rolls, and energy management exercises — always with a focus on safety, clarity, and confidence-building. His calm, approachable teaching style and hands-on demonstrations make him a favourite among students who are new to advanced handling or exploring flight for the first time.
Whether he's in a helicopter or pushing the limits in an aerobatic aircraft, Steve’s enthusiasm for aviation is infectious. He brings energy, humour, and focus to every lesson — inspiring the next generation of pilots to fly with both skill and joy.
